Nyon (SID) - Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Chairman of the European Club Association ECA, has called for drastic changes on the part of FIFA after the re-election of FIFA President Sepp Blatter at the Congress of the world football association. "The recent events have the evidence delivered once again, that the FIFA needed a complete change in the structure." As President of the ECA, I urge FIFA to ensure the implementation of democratic and transparent structures. "The European clubs will accept no longer, that they are not involved in decision-making processes that affect them", the Chairman of the Board of German Rekordmeisters Bayern Munich in a press release of the ECA was quoted.
The ECA will follow the further development of the FIFA very closely and if necessary the appropriate measures, there should be no structural improvements.
61. FIFA Congress in Zurich FIFA boss Blatter was re-elected Wednesday, but his fourth term in Office is highly controversial. In that year of's election, there had been numerous allegations of corruption against leading FIFA officials, even Blatter himself had to be taken in the FIFA Ethics Committee about an investigation. The Swiss was however acquitted of any charges against him.
