Million criminal scandal referee and CBF

Almost six years after the biggest scandal in braslilianischen football first judgments have fallen. The fines total amounted to EUR 70 million.

Sao Paulo (SID) - almost six years after the biggest scandal in the history of Brazilian football in Sao Paulo Court has imposed heavy fines. The former referee Edilson Pereira de Carvalho and the Brazilian Association of CBF pay approximately EUR 70 million in compensation. The judgment at first instance granted may be contested yet.

Pereira had in 2005 by the so-called "mafia of the whistle" (mafia do Apito) receive money to conduct budget results in a total of eleven, later cancelled first League games in the way for their bets. The CBF is accused by the Court to be failed by designating a "partisan referee" his duty of care.

The exact distribution of punishment will only be published on Monday. If Pereira but can not afford to its part, the CBF as "Lender" must stand. Process specialists in Brazil however assume that the case with all redress for years hinauszieht.
